Course Description

This 5-day Brainspotting Phase 2 through the Perinatal Lens training will begin with an extensive review of Phase 1 techniques of Outside and Inside Window Brainspotting and Gazespotting, with an emphasis on the foundational skills valued in brainspotting approach to increase attunement and connection with clients.

Attendees will be introduced to several brainspotting applications that assist with client regulation and resourcing. All examples, demonstrations, and practicum will be related to the perinatal period defined as the time an individual considers expanding their family through the stages that can occur through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and parenting.

These include One-Eye Brainspotting using One-Eye goggles where one eye is covered in the process.

Three Dimensional Brainspotting is taught using the “Z-Axis” of Brainspotting using close and far distance; this includes Convergence Therapy which expands the Z-Axis to stimulate the vagus nerve through the oculocardiac (OCR) reflex.

Additional technical refinements will be presented including “Rolling Brainspotting,” with slow eye tracking stopping briefly on each Brainspot.

Advanced techniques will also include combined Inside-Outside Window Brainspotting where both reflexive responses and client sense of highest activation are used together to find Brainspots.

The final set up learned will be the Advanced Resource Model. This will entail combining the resource aspects of One-Eye and Z-Axis Brainspotting. This addresses working with clients with Very Complex PTSD and those outside of their Circle of Capacity to self regulate.

Techniques taught with PowerPoint lecture, discussion with Q & A, demonstrations and practicums.
