Course Description

This training, designed to deepen professionals' understanding of trauma in the perinatal period, has two distinct parts:

Day 1 is open to all professionals working with perinatal clients. The information presented will increase knowledge of the effect of trauma on birthgivers and families. The main themes woven into the training are the lens of grief, the lens of trauma, the systemic challenges this population faces, and the skill set needed to be effective with this population while supporting people throughout their healing process.

Day 2 will build on the foundational knowledge laid on Day 1, and will be specifically for those practitioners with Brainspotting experience

Starting on Day 1, The Rainbow Arc of Perinatal Trauma© will be introduced with a focus on each stage and phase in which perinatal trauma can occur - from contemplation of family expansion all the way through to the postpartum period.  This dynamic and creative training will incorporate creative expression elements and a creative healing arts project. Guest lecturer, Dr. Janelle Peifer will share information on the impact on communities of color during the perinatal period. Participants will also get to hear firsthand from perinatal trauma survivors by listening to their personal journeys with time for questions.
