Course Description

This on-demand training aims to expand your expertise in perinatal mental health through this hands-on ethics continuing education course. We will focus on cultural and identity-informed approaches to therapy grounded in theory, research, and lived experiences. Throughout this active program, participants will not only recognize but effectively communicate the crucial role of identity in perinatal mental healthcare. We will navigate the nuances of psychological screening, assessment, and evaluation with a culturally-grounded lens, crafting case conceptualizations that honor each client's unique identity.

This course places a strong emphasis on fostering cultural self-awareness, equipping you with practical tools for self-knowledge generation, an essential component of inclusive care. Moreover, you'll delve into strength and asset-based models with helpful handouts for post-course work. We'll also explore evidence-based practices and techniques, providing resources and materials to seamlessly incorporate them into your therapeutic work with perinatal clients from diverse backgrounds. Realistic case studies generated for the course will provide the opportunity for coaching and feedback, ensuring that you leave with a refined skill set and the ability to navigate common issues adeptly. This CEU course empowers mental health professionals to deliver culturally sensitive and effective perinatal mental healthcare, elevating client outcomes across the spectrum of identities and backgrounds.
