Course Description

This workshop teaches participants how to assess for dissociation and subclinical dissociation and discusses appropriate interventions to counteract dissociative processes, using the present moment, that could interfere with effective EMDR treatment. 


Working with individuals who are struggling with trauma and dissociation can present challenges during the reprocessing phases of EMDR. This workshop teaches participants how to assess subclinical dissociation and how to use interventions to counteract dissociation. Participants will learn how to integrate information gathered from the assessment of the dissociative process to conceptualize treatment planning. 


This course is composed of recordings from a workshop held in 2026. CE credits are calculated based on the total duration of video content. Supplemental readings are not included in the CE credit calculation. To obtain CE credits, a course quiz must be completed with a passing score of 75%.

Nirit Gordon, PhD

Instructor

Dr. Nirit Gordon has specialized training in trauma treatment, women’s mental health, parenting, and young adulthood. In her clinical work, she integrates relationship-focused, trauma-informed treatment with evidence-based techniques. Nirit is certified EMDR therapist and trainer. Nirit has trained in multiple settings both in Israel and in New York City treating adults and adolescents, including City College Counseling Center, Mount Sinai Morningside’s Trauma-Focused Program, Women’s Health Project, and The National Institute for the Psychotherapies (NIP). Nirit is a trainer at the international EMDR organization EMDRIA as well as at different mental health organizations focusing on training therapists in trauma informed care and women’s mental health. She currently serves on the executive committee of the Integrative Trauma Program at NIP and is an adjunct professor at New York University and Ben Gurion University in Israel. Nirit sits on the board of Non for profits organizations in the mental health field including Connective Non for Profit in New York State and The New Organization for Psychotherapy and Clinical Training in Israel. Dr. Gordon completed her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at New York University’s Department of Applied Psychology. She received her M.A. from NYU’s Transdisciplinary Violence and Trauma Studies Program, and her B.A. in social work from Tel Hai College in Israel with a specialization in the treatment of trauma and post-trauma. Nirit is a mom and nature lover.

Continuing Education Credits

Submission of a quiz and course evaluation is required to receive a CE certificate for this course. The quiz and course evaluation are made available within the course portal after all lectures have been completed. After passing the quiz with at least a 75% and completing the evaluation, participants will be able to submit a request for their CE certificate. This training offers 4.5 CE credits.
