Perinatal EMDR Deep Dive: Neurobiology of Trauma (self-paced)
with Mara Tesler Stein, PsyD, PMH-C
This workshop can be taken on its own or as Part 1 of a four-part comprehensive training. You can find the remaining three sections here: History and Target Selection, Resourcing and Preparation, and Complexities in Reprocessing, or register for the course bundle here.
This self-paced workshop will review the fundamentals of EMDR therapy beginning with the neurobiology of trauma, then moving into the model, method, and mechanism of treatment. The training will review all phases of EMDR therapy through a perinatal mental health lens.
Participants will be introduced to the Three Core Tasks parents face during the perinatal period (Davis & Stein, 2003), namely:
1. Development of Parental Identity
2. Managing Emotions
3. Managing Relationships
This comprehensive framework guides clinicians in history-taking, case conceptualization, treatment planning, and target selection. The holistic training model allows more nuance and specificity in the assessment of ruptures during the perinatal period. Using EMDR’s three-prongs and eight phases, adaptive information processing, and the Three Core Tasks, attendees will hone their clinical conceptualization skills.
